North Carolina Land for Sale

While there are many great American states for sportsmen and women to hunt, North Carolina offers some of the best. One look at a satellite image from above the Tar Heel state will show you that it is bordered by mountains on one side, and the Atlantic Ocean on the other, making it one of the most unique outdoor state experiences in the union. Average daily temperatures during the October start of hunting season range right around the 75-degree mark. Economic drivers range from hydroelectricity, textiles and furniture, to agriculture, making it a revered outdoor destination.

The median home value in North Carolina is around $208,000, with values rising in the past year a little over 5%. Smart Asset says, “North Carolina’s property tax rates are relatively low in comparison to those of other states. The average effective property tax rate in North Carolina is 0.86%, well under the national average of 1.08%.” As far as the cost of living goes, North Carolina rates a 90.6, which means it is a borderline expensive place to live.

Farm Land for Sale in North Carolina

Depending upon the region of the state, the growing season can start as soon as the beginning of April and end as late as November. According to Farm Flavor, “About 49,500 farms spread across 8.4 million acres of land across the state, with each farm averaging about 168 acres in size. All these farms strongly contribute to agriculture’s economic impact on North Carolina, which rings in at $76 billion annually.” Primary crops and livestock include tobacco and sweet potatoes, poultry, pork and trout. North Carolina’s working farms also produce cotton, soybeans, peanuts, and nursery products, including aquaculture. Weather-US records that “The average annual precipitation is 45" (1143mm) in North Carolina and occurs throughout the year. Summer is the wettest season, while autumn is the driest. Sleet and snow occur only a few times in the year in the coastal areas, while the high mountain slopes receive up to 50" (1270mm).” The land value per acre for farmland in NC is estimated at around $3,000-$5,000 an acre.

Cheap Land for Sale in North Carolina

One area of the state, the Piedmont region, which is named for the three largest cities in the region: Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point, seems to have some of the lowest priced land, averaging around $16,000. North Carolina land for sale by owner is perhaps lower here due to the fact that it lies so near to these urban areas. The coastal plains are more for living due to their proximity to the ocean and the venerable outer banks. The mountainous areas of NC are prime hunting locations for several varieties of game animals, among it a high end region for the hunter.
