McIntosh, 2,762 Acres of Public Hunting Land for Whitetail Deer, Turkey, Hog, Predator, Exotics – McIntosh, Georgia

The refuge encompasses six man-made freshwater ponds, as well as extensive salt marsh , open fields, forested wetlands, and mixed hardwood/pine forest.  This diversity of habitat makes the refuge an important resource for migratory birds. Two managed deer hunts are conducted on the refuge each year. The first, in early fall, is a three-day archery hunt; the second, in November, is a one-day shotgun hunt. Feral hog, coyote, and armadillo also may be taken during both of these hunts. Five deer, no more than two antlered, may be taken during these hunts.
