Morgan, 35,000 Acres of Public Hunting Land for Whitetail Deer, Hog, Quail, Duck, Exotics – Morgan, Alabama

Covering 35,000 acres, this refuge has a great diversity of habitat including deep river channels, tributary creeks, tupelo swamps, open backwater embayments, bottomland hardwoods, pine uplands, and agricultural fields. This rich mix of habitats provide places for over 295 bird species to rest, nest and winter, including over 30 species of waterfowl and an increasing population of Sandhill cranes and a small number of Whooping cranes. This NWR is home to the largest wintering duck population and is scattered with feral hogs that can be taken during deer season. Hunters may pursue deer during the state archery season, and the refuge offers a refuge-specific flintlock season. While hunting pressure is fairly high, deer hunters have a good chance for success if they put time into scouting.
