Taylor Creek Outfitters officially established in the fall of 2017, has been a part of the family since 2002. The black bear hunting guide, Jamie Ridl, has successfully led bear hunts in various areas of Baraga County in Upper Michigan for the past 16 years, boasting a harvest rate of over 90%.
Situated 7 miles south of L’Anse, MI, Taylor Creek Outfitters occupies 102 acres of prime bear and deer habitat. Surrounded by over 1000 acres of CFR land and 300 acres of state land, the property provides ample room for scouting, baiting, and attracting bears.
The hunting season kicks off in early June with scouting and trail cam placement to monitor bear activity. Stand and blind placement occurs around August 10 to allow animals time to acclimate before hunting.
Equipped with top brand name gear like API, Millennium, Primos, and Ameritech, the blinds and tree stands are set up strategically based on trail camera photos to gauge bear quality. Clients receive these photos via email to build excitement and anticipation for their upcoming hunt.
