Texas Land for Sale
While there are amazing experiences in every state for hunters, Texas has long been the state to be for hunting. Texas comes in number one of all the states in the US on many hunting statistics such as most hunters with 1.25 million hunters, most whitetail harvested with almost 1 million, and most dove harvested at almost 4 million to name a few. With this kind of reputation, it’s no secret that owning a parcel of hunting land in Texas is a dream for many hunters. Luckily, Texas is the second largest state in the US behind Alaska at 268,597 miles squared. This means there is a lot of land in the state available for hunting and you’re very likely to be able to find the property that checks all of your boxes.
Cheap Land for Sale in Texas
Are you looking to find a deal on some land in Texas? If you’re wanting to buy a piece of land, there are certain areas of Texas that provide inexpensive opportunities for aspiring landowners. If you’re looking in the Eastern part of the state or along the coast line, you’re less likely to be successful but there are pockets of land that can be bought up for not much money. The state is basically broken up into 4 types of land. You have the gulf coast plains which is a very desirable place to live being near the water and of moderate climate. To find cheap land here you will need to look for swamp lands that would be hard to develop. Next there is North Central Plains. This area contains the best hunting in the state, boasting a mile climate with plenty of rainfall and gentle rolling hill landscape. This makes the area very desirable to own for ranches, farms, and hunters. This high demand makes this a difficult area to buy land for cheap. This leaves two more areas, the great plains and the mountains and basins. Both will provide some of the better deals in the state. The great plains have more rural opportunities than the coastal and north central plains which betters the chance of finding something cheap. The mountains and basins area will provide the cheapest land of the state with rugged mountain landscapes as well as deserts. Both are less desirable which drags the general property value down.
Land for Sale in East Texas
Land in East Texas sells for a premium. This part of the state includes the Houston area and everything east of it. The area has a mild climate and temperate forests with exceptional hunting, and easy living. While large tracts can still be found, this area of the state will be broken up into smaller parcels due to the demand for the land and the higher population density. This can be beneficial for someone looking to buy land as the smaller parcels will be less expensive overall and easier to sell if the need arises.
West Texas Land for Sale
West Texas is the opposite of East Texas. This can be taken literally as they are on opposite sides of the state but there are other reasons behind that statement. West Texas has some of the less desirable landscapes of the state with mountains and deserts. The area has the least amount of rainfall of the state and the least amount of people. Land is in less demand than East Texas but that doesn’t mean West Texas should be skipped over by hunters. The section of the state still provides some amazing opportunities and beautiful scenery.
Hunting Land for Sale in Texas
Buying hunting land in Texas doesn’t always call for buying 500 acres or more. Some of the best hunting can be done on smaller tracts of land. If smaller properties sound more appealing, look for land that has well managed neighbors or government land that would have a healthy herd of deer. Be respectful and work together with your neighbors to nourish and grow the herd so everyone can achieve better hunting. If buying a larger tract of land is an option for you, this will allow you to manage the deer the way you want. Buy a large enough tract of land that there is plenty of habitat to use for bedding, and plenty of food so your deer don’t have a reason to leave. No matter which size property you are looking for, buying hunting land in Texas can take your hunting to the next level.
