Axis can be hunted year-round at Sisco D Ranch, however, we recommend hunting them between May and August, because that is when most of the bucks have hard antlers - meaning they are not in velvet and their antlers are fully grown out. Axis deer can be extremely challenging to hunt, as they are nervous animals by nature and one of the most “switched on” deer species in the world. However, the challenge of hunting a trophy axis buck makes the hunt that much more rewarding, plus, they are known to have some of the best-tasting venison, which is an added bonus! We offer a variety of fully guided hunts depending on the hunter’s preference & ability. Many hunters enjoy the excitement of a spot and stalk axis hunt, others prefer the traditional stationary hunt.
