Kentucky deer hunting season begins September-January for the archery hunter, and November 10th-25th for modern gun, in most Kentucky deer zones. A hunter may harvest four deer with a statewide deer permit, and to harvest more than four deer, an additional deer permit is needed. Duck hunting in Kentucky is a very popular sport. The state provides abundant food sources and croplands for the birds. Most waterfowl are known to migrate throughout the seasons, but in Kentucky, the birds remain as resident birds. In the fall months, wood ducks and teal are abundant in the state. Duck season in Kentucky begins November 22-25 and December 3rd- January 27th. In order to hunt ducks, a hunter must complete a HIP Migratory Bird Survey before hunting ducks.

Kentucky turkey hunting offers timber hunting near the east, with farm pastures in the middle of the state. Kentucky hunting leases do provide almost ninety five percent of the state, where turkeys are located. However, there is a dominant amount of public land where turkeys can be hunted. This includes land in between lakes, and the Daniel Boone National Forest. The general turkey hunting season begins with, twenty-three days beginning on the Saturday closes to April 15th. The hours to shoot a turkey in Kentucky, must be done thirty min. before sunrise and thirty min. after sunset.

A non-resident license is $130.00 per year, or $40.00 for five days. On public land, the best Kentucky hog hunting, is known to take place within the Daniel Boone National Forest.
