Somerset, 13,000 Acres of Public Hunting Land for Dove, Duck – Somerset, Maryland

This 13,000-acre tract contains forested wetlands and a 2,800-acre man-made pond. The water insects and crustaceans, as well as the abundance of wigeon grass, horned pond weed and other favorite waterfowl foods makes Deal Island one of the best places in Maryland to hunt ducks and geese.  Trapping facility is available at this land but permit is necessary for it. Dove hunting is restricted to certain days and shooting hours. No motorized vehicles are allowed. A primitive camping area is also available for the hunters for overnight stays.
