With around 29,000 acres of land, this land is declared to be the state’s biggest wildlife management area and biggest parcel of publicly claimed tidal wetlands in Maryland. Both the local white-followed deer and the Asian sika deer can be found grazing on wetland plants. Muskrats and the extraordinary South American nutria go after living space. Mallards and dark ducks are abundant on Fishing Bay WMA, while the best wager for sacking jumping ducks, similar to scaup, is on the bayous and waterway shoreline. Canada geese can be found on the swamp and in the open water. The land can be accessed through 12 parking territories and 6 water access facilities Public boat ramps provide two additional water access facilities with parking areas. Camping is prohibited in this area except for educational groups on Guinea Island with a permit.
