This refuge is consisting of 4,500 – acres and the surface of this property is mostly covered with forests, wetland, grassland, and brushy upland. This land provides a great opportunity for hunters to hunt Ducks, Coots, Deer, Turkey, Black Bear, Bobcat, Raccoons, and Alligators. The management of this land manages its quality with the help of prescribed burning of extra brushes and crop cultivation. The Neches River that flows through this refuge is the largest river in Texas. It also provide great opportunities for fisherman to perform fishing activities. Moreover, activities that can be performed on this land other than hunting and fishing are hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. People with disabilities are also allowed to hunt on this land in their specified area. Moreover, hunters can camp on this land and a designated car parking area is also available.
