Dove Hunting Throckmorton County.  Day, Season, Group Pastures.

We have approximately 500 acres of huntable acreage, pastures and fields. Typically, the pastures are roosting areas, and the fields are bird feeding areas. Our primary fields are habitat designed to keep birds year-round, unlike sunflower fields planted for dove season only. Our fields were designed by the Throckmorton Biologist, and include native sunflowers, Maximillian sunflower, dove weed, goat weed, clover, wheat grasses, sorghum, as well as native grasses. The fields will be shredded prior to dove season. Additional fields include unharvested headed wheat approximately 1’ tall, with dove weed, goat weed, and native grasses. The fields adjacent to us, were planted in wheat and harvested, and have volunteer sunflowers present. Last year was a slow year, throughout the state, it looks like this year can be a good one. We typically start out at $70. 00 a day. We do not crowd our fields, and do have tanks, as well as cattle on the property. Additionally, we occasionally have spots for lease for deer and hog season, as limited hog and deer hunts. We are not an outfitter; we just have to pay the bills.
