Mineral, 6,202 Acres of Public Hunting Land for Whitetail Deer, Turkey, Predator, Exotics – Mineral, West Virginia

This 6,202-acre land is consisting of two tracts. One is covered with mountains and other is near the north branch of the potomac river. The larger, 5,034-acre tract mounts the front side of the WMA and is covered principally in oak and hickory forest interspersed with thickets of laurel. Th tract is relatively flat, though steep side slopes descend into foothills and hollows. The smaller, 1,168 acres-tract is steep and principally includes old farm field habitat along the north branch and on the ridge above. The principal animals for the hunt on Allegheny WMA are bear, deer, grouse, squirrel, turkey, bobcat, raccoon, gray fox, and red fox. Fishing facility is also available at the site and trout, panfish, and smallmouth bass are the primary fish species available here.
