McDowell, 85 Acres of Public Hunting Land for Whitetail Deer, Turkey, Exotics – McDowell, West Virginia

This 85-acre WMA consists of steep mountain forest surrounding 20-acre Lake Berwind. This land provides facilities like: eight primitive campsites, a playground, and a swimming pool. The animals which could be hunt in this area include deer, squirrel, raccoon, and turkey. Hunting facility is limited in this area due to the limited acreage. Additionally, Berwind Lake is equipped with a Class-Q fishing pier and accommodates fishing for warm-water species. Lastly, this land is located in southern McDowell County four miles south of War, WV, and 12 miles south of Welch, WV, on highways WV-16 and WV-12/4.
