info

Hunting in Colorado is a great experience for all to enjoy. Between the beautiful landscapes, peaceful rivers, and extraordinary views, it is a perfect place to hunt. The wild Colorado hunts most popularly available within the state include deer, elk, pronghorn, moose, and bear. But, remember though, no matter the individual's position or situation, a Colorado hunting license is required for all in order to partake in this activity.

Any individual that hunts in the state of Colorado is required to obtain a license and sign and carry it with them while hunting. One must have lived in Colorado for six consecutive months before applying for a license, as well as providing a valid Colorado driver's license. Another important requirement is that anyone who is born after January 1, 1949 is required to complete an approved hunter education course through the state before purchasing a Colorado hunting license. For youths who wish to participate in hunting, they must be 12 years of age, and meet the requirements that go along with the hunter education course. Additionally, the exemption for the Colorado hunting license requirements include only those who are in the United States military.

Note: One must only hunt the animal, sex, season, unit, and method of take that is stated on their hunting license. Therefore, plan accordingly.

The time of hunting season varies by the particular species being hunted. For instance, deer season primarily runs between October and January, although it depends on your license of choice on when the date actually begins.

As for location of hunting, public areas and state parks are a big choice for hunters. Another great place for a Colorado hunt is on a private property that the owners give you permission to utilize ahead of time. Remember, hunting on private property without prior notice will get you into a serious amount of trouble.

Colorado hunting leases constituted the majority of the finer hunting opportunities in the state. By landowners providing part of their private property to hunters, they are able to benefit by a monetary incentive. As well, the hunters gain a great opportunity from these Colorado hunting leases by having a better choice in the wild game in which they are able to hunt.
